About Pretoria Driving School

We Are On A Mission To Help You Get Your Driver & Motorcycle License

Adrian Bonafede has been a driving instructor since 1993, with extensive experience teaching a diverse clientele, including ambassadors, government officials, and celebrities. He began his career in Bloemfontein in 1993 and has since become a prominent figure in driver training. Adrian has appeared on SABC 3’s Driving in Heels in 2017 and has been featured multiple times on Jacaranda FM, including a 2015 segment on “Most Dangerous Jobs.” He holds instructor certifications for all South African license codes, from motorcycles (Code A, A1) to light motor vehicles (Code 08) and heavy-duty trucks (Code 10, Code 14), making him one of the few instructors in South Africa qualified to teach across all these categories. A few years ago, Harley Davidson Menlyn recommended Adrian as their preferred beginner-level K53 motorcycle instructor, and he is endorsed by institutions like Garsfontein High School.

Test Booking

Requirements for NATIS Online Booking

We can make a preliminary booking for you on the government’s NATIS website (search for “NATIS” on Google). You may use our vehicle or your own for driving tests (not applicable for learner’s license tests). To proceed, we need the following information:

  1. Your initials and surname
  2. Your ID number or TRN number
  3. Your cell phone number
  4. The test code (e.g., light motor vehicle, etc.)
  5. Your email address
  6. Your permission to book at any testing station closest to or in Pretoria (a list of stations will be provided)

This is a preliminary booking only. You, the client, must personally pay and confirm the booking at the testing station; no one else, including parents, may do this on your behalf.

You will receive an email from NATIS with the date, time, and place of your test. You then have 7 days (including Saturdays and Sundays, effectively 5 business days) to visit the testing station in person to confirm. Arrive early, ideally at 7 AM. We cannot confirm appointments for you, as this is illegal. Bring the following:

  • Four color ID photos
  • An optometrist’s eye test certificate
  • Your original learner’s license (if applicable)
  • Your ID and copies of both the ID and learner’s license
  • The applicable fee: R110 for a learner’s license (with R60 payable to the government upon passing) or R228 for a driving test (R195 for cars and motorcycles). Most stations accept only card payments, though some may accept cash.

Vehicle Use for Driving Tests: We reserve approximately half a day, sometimes a full day, to practice the test route. The cost ranges from R950 to R2000 depending on the distance.

Please contact us the day before we schedule your test to confirm and receive a list of testing stations we use. We will reschedule any lessons booked on that day to prioritize your test if you use our car or motorcycle. For learner’s license tests, request our study material and Q&A for R200, which is refunded when you book driving lessons with us.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ!

Terms and Conditions

The client must personally confirm their driving test, as required by law. We may book a test on the eNaTIS system on their behalf, but the client is responsible for confirming it themselves.

Operating Hours and Communication:

  • No calls, messages, or WhatsApp communication from 6 PM to 7 AM, on Sundays, or on public holidays.

General Rules:

  • Please adhere to our rules. It is unfair that we are expected to follow them while some clients feel exempt.
  • All driving tests must be paid in full one week in advance. Driving lessons must be paid by 1 PM the day before the lesson, or by 1 PM on Friday for Monday lessons.

Specific Policies:

  1. Once services are paid for, clients have 6 weeks to complete up to 10 hours of lessons and 2 months for any additional hours or the learner’s license. Failure to complete within this period results in forfeiture of the service, unless delays are due to government issues. Exceptions must be agreed upon in writing via email.
  2. To cancel or reschedule a service, notify us by 1 PM the day before the scheduled time, or by 1 PM on Friday for Monday appointments. Failure to do so results in forfeiture of the lesson or service.
  3. Driving tests take priority over lessons, as test slots are difficult to secure.
  4. Please confirm lessons a few days in advance and again by 1 PM the day before via WhatsApp.
  5. If a client is sick and cancels overnight, 100% of the service is forfeited unless a doctor’s note is provided, in which case 50% is forfeited. The most common excuse we receive is, “I have a stomach bug.”
  6. We wait 15 minutes for a client. If they do not show, the service is forfeited. If a client cancels or reschedules due to last-minute work or school obligations notified the night before, 50% of the lesson is forfeited. For driving tests, 100% is forfeited due to the time reserved.
  7. If we arrive for your lesson but WhatsApp messages are not going through, please check outside or call us. Allow us a 10-minute grace period for traffic.
  8. Do not pressure instructors, as a clear mind is essential for safety. Distractions can lead to accidents.
  9. We do not guarantee a pass for any test.
  10. We strive to provide the same vehicle and instructor whenever possible, but this is not guaranteed. Personality clashes are not acceptable, as this is a professional service. Gender does not affect the quality of instruction.
  11. No refunds will be issued for any reason; only rescheduling of dates and times is permitted.
  12. Abusive language, threats, or condescending behavior will not be tolerated. Legal action may be taken if necessary, and all services and payments will be forfeited. Unfortunately, such incidents have occurred.
  13. If we detect alcohol or impaired behavior, the client will be asked to exit the vehicle, and the service will be forfeited. An email explaining the incident may be sent to the client, parent, spouse, or payer.
  14. If the government testing center causes issues with test dates or other matters, and the client fails to confirm, 100% of the service is forfeited. Taking frustrations out on us is unfair and not our fault. Verbal abuse will result in forfeiture of all services and payments, and threats will be addressed legally.
  15. Any issues not covered in these policies will be discussed calmly via email to reach a fair resolution.
